Episode 2: The Crash Course
“I’m Sasami, your average, happy 4th grader. One day, a strange lady with magical powers came. *flashback to Tsunami* 'I want you to be Pretty Sammy, a magical girl, and I want you to restore world peace.' Unbelievable! Of course I said “no”! But then this weird girl showed up. I have a bad feeling about this!"
Title screen - The Crash Course
The episode opens at the same point the previous episode left off in, with Sasami trapped in a field with Pixy Misa, who greets the viewers and introduces herself to Sasami.
Sasami is shocked, but tells Pixy Misa she has the CD she ordered. She holds it out to her, but Pixy Misa snaps her fingers, and the CD falls to the ground. Misa tells her the CD order was a pretext to get Sasami over there because she’s what Misa really wants.
Sasami asks her why, and Misa says she’ll tell her...not! Ryo-Ohki runs up and want to know why a magical girl is there, but Misa gives him the exact same answer.
Misa says that since they’re both there, she should give them a flashy show. The CD floats up into the air and unwraps itself (I believe the title of the CD is “Punk Anarchy”). The case opens and the CD flies up higher. Pixy Misa waves her magic baton and says “Calling Mystics”, turning the CD into CD Girl, a punk rocker with a flying V-shaped guitar.
Sasami asks Ryo-Ohki what that is, and he explains that it’s a Love-love monster, which is monster created by focusing evil magic energy on an object. Misa thanks him for the simple explanation, then tells CD Girl to attack, who does so by throwing razor-sharp CDs at Sasami and Ryo-Ohki. One cuts Sasami’s vest, and she tells Misa that what she’s doing is dangerous. Misa says she's glad it’s dangerous, and CD Girl continues her attack.
Ryo-Ohki tells Sasami that their only chance is her to transform into Pretty Sammy. Just then, CD Girl runs out of CDs to throw and has to reload by picking up the CDs scattered on the ground! Ryo-Ohki tells Sasami that ‘s her chance, but she protests. Finally she agrees to become Pretty Sammy “just this once” because she has to get the CD back anyway. She forgets the magic words, but after a refresher from Ryo-Ohki she transforms.
While doing her post-transformation pose, Sammy gets a boot to the back of the head from Pixy Misa. Sammy says that it’s not fair to attack someone while they’re posing, but Misa tells her she’s spoiled and doesn’t deserve to be her rival. After reloading, CD Girl resumes her attack with Sammy dancing around trying to dodge the CDs which, as Ryo-Ohki notices, is the same as before she transformed! ^^; Sammy tells him to help her, but he tells her she can’t use magic yet, although she should be physically stronger since she transformed.
Her confidence bolstered, Sammy uses the Sammy Tackle against CD Girl...and bounces right off her and falls to the ground.
CD Girl is about to smash Sammy with her guitar, but Pixy Misa stops her. She tells Sammy that since she’s so weak, she’ll give her three hours to train, after which they’ll have a rematch. She also adds, as an afterthought, that if Sammy runs away, CD Girl will destroy the town. The two then disappear.
Sammy asks Ryo-Ohki what she should do now. He tells her there’s only one thing to do...training, as Pixy Misa suggested! ^^; Tsunami, who is watching these events unfold on her screen, wonders who the other magical girl is, but is happy Sasami transformed into Pretty Sammy after all. Ramia comes in and says that the deliberation has started over Tsunami’s rule as queen. Tsunami tells her that an evil magical girl has appeared on Earth, and says she has the feeling someone’s trying to interfere with the deliberations. Ramia says she doubts it, and Tsunami agrees that must be a coincidence. They both laugh, while Ramia thinks to her self what a fool Tsunami is.
EYECATCH
Pretty Sammy and Ryo-Ohki have arrived at Sasami’s school to train. Ryo-Ohki tells her he’s chosen this location because it has the equipment and it’s convenient. Sammy worries people will laugh if they see her like that, but Ryo-Ohki tells her not to worry because she’s Pretty Sammy now, not Sasami. Kenji and Hiroto are playing soccer, when they notice Sammy, who is doing laps. They come up behind her and Kenji comments that she’s not from their school. Sammy is shocked, but relieved, to discover that they don’t recognize her. She introduces herself and Kenji asks what a magical girl like her is doing in a place like this. She tells them she’s practicing some techniques, and runs off. Hiroto - “What was that?”
Meanwhile, Pixy Misa is lying by the pool, wearing a bikini, and sipping on a cocktail. Rumiya flies up with an orange cell phone around his neck and tells her he has a call for her from Ramia. Ramia asks Misa if she’s finished off Pretty Sammy yet, and Misa assures her that Sammy will be an easy knockout in two hours. Ramia tells her not to let her down. Misa hangs up and tells him his sister worries too much. Rumiya wonders if they can really count on Misa.
Sammy continues her training at the school, doing chin-up while the two boys watch from a distance, wondering if there’s any connection between magic and chin-ups.
Back at the pool, Misa is enjoying a nice nap when Rumiya wakes her up and tells her to go finish off Sammy. Misa doesn’t feel like it, and instead send CD Girl by herself to do the job, much to Rumiya’s chagrin. Misa tells him that fun and exciting are the only two things that matter to her, which he thinks is exactly like his sister.
At the school, Sammy is now standing on top of the chain-link fence surrounding the building’s roof, with the boys watching from the ground. She’s scared, but Ryo-Ohki tells her to have courage, the kind of courage to overcome any fear. Sammy says that it’s so dangerous, and tells the audience never to try this at home. Eimi comes onto the roof and tells Sammy that it’s against school rules to stand on the fence and, after noticing what she’s wearing, asks who she is. Sammy introduces herself, but Eimi says that even magical girls have to obey school rules. She grabs Sammy’s legs, which causes Sammy to fall on top of her. Ryo-Ohki tells her that the three hours are up, so Sammy apologizes to Eimi and runs off. Eimi yells after her to go on a diet.
At the vacant lot, Sammy says she’s tired, but Ryo-Ohki tells her that her training will increase her tolerance to magic, and that she can now use the Pretty Coquettish Bomber to finish off the love-love monster. Just then CD Girl arrives. Sammy asks her where Misa is, and CD Girl says she’s enjoying a lovely vacation. Sammy gets mad and tells CD Girl she’ll finish her off, but CD Girl has a new attack...shooting fireballs from the head of her guitar! Sammy says it’s not fair, because she didn’t use that attack before. Ryo-Ohki tells her to use the Pretty Coquettish Bomber by concentrating her magic on the baton, but Sammy asks him how she’s supposed to concentrate at a time like this!
Kenji and Hiroto are walking home from the school, wondering what Pretty Sammy was doing. They hear explosions and run into the vacant lot, where they find Sammy dodging CD Girl’s fireballs. CD Girl notices the two boys and aims at her guitar at them, but Sammy stands in front of them. The triangle on her forehead glows, and all three are shielded from the fire.
Sammy creates her Pretty Space (pink, with lots of hearts floating around), then uses the Pretty Coquettish Bomber to destroy CD Girl. She recovers the CD, but it’s covered in scratches.
Kenji tells Sammy he hopes she’ll continue to protect their town. Sammy nervously agrees, but says she has to go and runs off. Hiroto says she’s cool.
Back at the pool, Misao is sleeping in the same lounge chair Misa was a few moments ago. Waking up, she wonders what she’s doing there...
On Juraihelm, the balance of Gemini moves over one notch towards good. Tsunami is happy, while Ramia can’t believe it. She storms off and has a temper tantrum at her house, where she wonders who she can take her anger out on. Just then Rumiya flies up, transforms back into his boy form, and tells her he messed up. Ramia tells him he’ll do...and kicks him into orbit (poor Rumiya! ^^;).
The next day, Misao is waiting at her usual spot, when a very stiff and tired Sasami arrives. As the two walk to school, Sasami says to herself that she won’t be a magical girl ever again. As they walk, they come upon Ryo-Ohki, who jumps into Sasami’s arms. She says that since she defeated the monster it’s over, but Ryo-Ohki says that with Pixy Misa around she’s just getting started and has lots to do. Sasami sighs that she’s in for a rough ride.
